Simple Energy furthers its commitment to a sustainable future with the launch of the EV Charger product category on Marketplace and the availability of EV chargers at the Boulder headquarters.
Simple Energy has expanded its utility-branded Marketplace offerings with a new product category: electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Utility customers can now shop a curated assortment of smart EV chargers, saving on their purchase with instant utility rebates where available. Smart chargers allow users to schedule and monitor charging using a smartphone app and can be compatible with utility programs for managed charging. An interactive Buyer’s Guide educates customers about various models and features and detailed product pages include descriptions, videos, and technical specifications. Simple Energy will expand the EV Charger category over time to include installation service, enrollment in rates and programs and additionalofferings to provide customers with a one-stop shop for at-home EV charging.
Vehicle electrification is critical to a clean energy future. Simple Energy believes that utilities have a key role to play in educating customers on electric vehicles and their benefits while improving the customer experience for prospective EV drivers. Simple Energy currently operates five utility-branded Marketplaces in New York, a state with a goal to accommodate up to one million plug-in vehicles by 2025 — more than thirty times the number of electric vehicles currently on the road.
“We’re excited to help our utility partners deliver on their ambitious EV programs by using our platform to streamline EV-related decisions and actions for consumers,” says Simple Energy President and Founder, Justin Segall. The current customer experience for EV purchases elsewhere in the market lacks clarity and customer education. Customers are not given the tools or resources to help them understand how incentives and specialty rates will decrease the total cost of EV ownership. A customer who does purchase an EV and wants to charge at home faces a disjointed process for purchasing a charger, getting it installed, taking advantage of incentives and signing up for a time-of-use rate and other available cost-reducing programs. Simple Energy is transforming that experience and has partnered with eMotorWerks, a leading provider of residential charging stations and the JuiceNet software platform, for its initial assortment of EV charging stations.
Simple Energy is also supporting its employees in taking energy-wise actions right at home in Boulder, Colorado with the installation of a JuiceBox Pro 40 Level 2 Smart EV Charging Station in the office parking bay. Although an estimated 5% of employees currently own electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids, 25% of employees have already registered for access. The high interest for EV charging capability among employees illustrates the strong consumer appeal and latent demand for EVs. This firsthand experience with charging software and workplace charging will help Simple Energy design more relevant solutions for its utility partners and their customers.
