Simple Energy has recently become a member of the Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative (SGCC), a leading organization dedicated to the conversation surrounding customer engagement in smart grid. Simple Energy was motivated to join SGCC because we believe that the customer is an essential participant in the smart grid discussion and achieving real results in energy efficiency, renewable integration, and demand response.
In a featured member spotlight on the SGCC website, the organization describes Simple Energy as “a Boulder, Colorado-based tech firm that offers an interactive, social gaming platform for utilities to use in engaging customers in energy-saving behavior.”
“The Simple Energy offering supports energy efficiency efforts (helping to change customers’ behavior and boosting program sign-ups), demand response programs (driving customer load shifting and increasing auto-demand response participation), and smart grid initiatives (providing fun and easy ways to interact). Simple Energy enables people to become more engaged with their own energy consumption by comparing their use with friends and neighbors on social platforms where they’re already spending time: Facebook, email, and mobile apps.”
The spotlight also describes some recent achievements and initiatives that Simple Energy is involved with, including the Biggest Energy Saver program in San Diego, integration with Smart Meter Texas, and the Green Button initiative. “In January, consumers in Oncor and Centerpoint service territories were able to sign up for the Simple Energy Customer Engagement Platform when the utilities launched a new energy saving contest through the Smart Meter Texas portal, currently the country’s largest single interface for sharing smart meter data.”
