Southern Company expands utility online marketplace platform to a second service area, covering a combined 2.5 million residential customers
Florida energy provider Gulf Power launched a new online marketplace this week that will connect its half a million customers with energy-efficient products, more choice and better value. Gulf Power customers can now visit Gulf Power Store to learn about and purchase top-rated products that can increase their comfort, savings and security.
The first of its kind in Florida, this new utility-branded online marketplace represents an important expansion of the offering initiated last year by Gulf Power’s parent company, Atlanta-based energy giant Southern Company.
In partnership with Simple Energy, whose turnkey solution has made it the number-one provider of online utility marketplaces, Southern Company and its subsidiaries are leading the way in building a service-centric, sustainable utility of the future. With the addition of Gulf Power, more than 2.5 million residential customers of Southern Company’s operating companies have access to Simple Energy’s Marketplace product.
Since it went live in July 2016, Gulf Power Store’s sister site, the Georgia Power Marketplace, has connected more than 15,000 customers with energy-related and connected home products with an average customer satisfaction rating of 92%. Top sellers have included smart thermostats from Nest®, ecobee and Honeywell, LED lighting from GE and OSRAM and connected home doorbells and locks from August.
Gulf Power Store features a nearly identical catalogue of products as Georgia Power Marketplace, as well as the micro-targeted marketing, on-site education, competitive pricing, integrated customer support and end-to- end fulfillment that make Simple Energy’s solution the preferred choice in the market.
Because Simple Energy had already deployed a Marketplace for Georgia Power, its product and team made it easy to quickly stand up a second instance of the marketplace for customers in Northern Florida.
