EV Familiarity, Interest, and Opinions
There is a major disconnect between the benefits of EVs and the level of customer awareness in the industry today. This disconnect presents an opportunity for utilities to act as trusted advisors for their consumers when it comes to EVs.
When we surveyed people about their familiarity with some of the top-selling EV makes and models, the lack of awareness was clear:
Accessibility to charging stations and vehicle cost ranked highest. For those uninterested or somewhat interested in EVs, a lack of understanding and knowledge was a concern about owning an electric vehicle. When asked which factors would increase the likelihood of purchasing an electric vehicle, respondents listed lower vehicle cost and higher vehicle range.
Customers are not receiving EV education, but their interest in EVs is clear. Our EV Advisor aims to overcome customers inhibitions by better educating them on the realities of EV ownership. This is achieved by partnering with utilities to provide personalized recommendations that drive consumer action. Through EV Advisor, utilities offer customers pricing plans that are best suited for EV drivers, as well as the ability to save on their bill by switching to a pricing plan that offers a reduced rate when charging their vehicle. From start to finish, EV Advisor eases concerns about vehicle costs and accessibility to charging stations, with engaging and easy-to-understand EV information. The personalized score for each customer breaks down barriers of EV customer transactions and positions the utility as the trusted advisor of our EV future.
